Some 4,900 yellow-spotted river turtles, also referred to as tracajás, have been launched into the Igapó-Açu River, in Brazil.
The threatened species lives in river basins in northern South America, and the Federal College of Amazonas has been working initiatives geared toward boosting turtle numbers for a decade.
In that point, greater than 70,000 turtles have been let loose to dwell within the wild.
